Just Let It Happen

When it comes to life I'm honestly one of the most impatient people. Once I've set my sights on something, that's it nothing can stop me. I want it now and nothing is going to stop me. However it's important to know that patients is virtue. Sometimes the wait makes us appreciate everything so much more. For without the wait we are unable to fully appreciate what we have. If we never know life without something how can we treasure life with it. It's something I'm really working on. Wether you interpreted this as your career, your relationship, your family or even your travel plans whatever you're thinking about remember if it is meant to happen it will. I'm not saying just sit around and wait, cause that doesn't work either. Try as hard as you can without forcing it. If you have to force something it obviously was not supposed to be. Let it go and move on, you're destine for greater things and greater people don't dwell on what wasn't supposed to be. I'm a big believer of everything happens for a reason and just know you're wonderful and you're on the right track.

White Chocolate and Raspberry Muffins + Vlog

Morning sweet cheeks!
Well yesterday evening I decided upon being very uninterested in the cake mixes in my pantry that I would make some muffins. After a quick trip to the shops some white chocolate and raspberry muffins were in the making!

What you'll need
  • 1 3/4 cups of self raising flour
  • 2/3 cup caster sugar
  • 250g white chocolate chips [recipe originally states 100g white chocolate]
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup vanilla/natural yogurt [recipe originally states 1/2 cup sour cream]
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 2 cups of fresh or frozen raspberries [recipe originally states 1 cup fresh or frozen raspberries]
  • 10 patty papers

Method

Firstly preheat your oven to 200C fanforced.

Secondly, stir together the flour, sugar and white chocolate.

Thirdly, whisk together the egg, yogurt, milk and melted butter. Add this to the flour mixture and stir until just combined - don't over mix! Next add half of the raspberries whilst mixing in the mixmaster. Once this has combined well, remove the bowl from the mixmaster and maually stir/fold in the remainder of the berries.

Spoon out the mixture evenly into the patty papers. As a finishing touch I placed an additional raspberry in the middle of each muffin.

Bake for approx 25 minutes or until golden on top and slightly firm in the middle!

Here's a vlog of me making them timelapsed down to 1:30min !

Hope you enjoy them! These muffins are perfect for a morning or afternoon tea :)

R U OK? Day

R U OK DAY IS TODAY!
THURSDAY 10 SEPTEMBER!

A couple of years ago I became aware of R U OK Day when my mum brought home a yellow decorated take-a-way coffee cup and a stress ball home from work. I was inquisitive as to what it was and she told me that (working in a hospital) they support R U OK Day.

Here's a little bit of info about what its all about:
In 1995, much-loved Barry Larkin was far from ok. His suicide left family and friends in deep grief and with endless questions. In 2009, his son Gavin Larkin chose to champion just one question to honour his father and to try and protect other families from the pain his endured.
Are you ok?
To genuinely change behaviour Australia-wide, a national campaign was needed. And from this realisation, and with Gavin and Janina’s expertise and passion, R U OK? was born. Gavin remained a passionate champion of the fact a conversation could change a life, even as cancer ended his in 2011.
It's so easy. Simply asking someone are you ok, whats up or is everything alright? It takes almost no effort on your behalf and could utterly change someone's day or someone's life. Sit down with someone over a cup of coffee or tea, and check up on the ones you love

Taking Care Of Your Hair | Back to BLONDE

Hello lovelies,
As of Tuesday this week my hair is back to it's balayage blonde-brown colour it used to be! Yay!

After months of contemplating what to do with my hair I've gone back to having my natural honey brown hair dyed to blonde balayage (ombre) and I couldn't love it more! The first time I dyed my hair was in January of 2014 where I died it the same. Since then, I regrettingly spontaneously dyed my hair red as I "thought it would be fun"... [see below for more info] The red Live!Dye did not come out as it said it would after just 8 washes and I was stuck with the red hair for quite some time... After this minor hiccup in the life of my hair, it transitioned through a couple of shades (was not a good time for me) and went to a very dark brown. For the past 3-ish months I've been letting my hair recover and attempting to let the dark brown fade [see the history of my hair bonanza below :P ].

SO it's safe to say my hair has been put through a lot and maintaining healthy hair through this was something I had to learn about. Having dyed blonde hair in particular is the hardest to keep fresh and healthy as the peroxide/bleach/chemicals used to lighten the hair severely dries it out. Hair can often be left looking dead and feeling strawy after a few weeks-months after initial dying, but this can often be avoided!

Having semi-blonde hair for 3 years I've learnt whats best to keep your hair silky smooth!
Here are my top tips, tricks and products for having healthy hair!

1. Use a thermal protectant spray
I can't emphasise this enough. I used to think heat protectant sprays were a waste of money, but after using the product when drying/styling, my hair is so much softer and less dried out afterwards!
My current favourite heat protector spray is Tony & Guy Prep: Heat Protection Mist, although I used to use GHD Heat Protector Spray which used to look like the gold bottle, but have recently re-designed their packaging and now looks like the black bottle.

2. Apply a general protector spray/oil often
To avoid having ratty ends, I like to apply just a general soft hair spray or oil every day or so.
My absolute go-to holy grail product is Juuce: Angle Mist. It without a doubt use this every 2 days - possibly every day depending on how my hair is going. It gets rid of knots, slightly de-frizzes and overall leaves my hair feeling and smelling amazing. If my hair is being staticy or frizzy in general I like to use Organic (OGX) Coconut Milk Oil which does wonders.

3. Don't sleep with your hair wound up in a bun!
Now this may not be one for everyone, but as my hair is naturally straight whenever I sleep with it in a bun the ends become all bent. What I mean by this is they become all crinkled and look split, and by sleeping with you hair wound up so tightly it damages not only your hair strands but the follicles as they aren't getting the chance to 'relax' and not be pulled in one direction constantly (which is what happens when we put our hair up in a pony tail for example).
I am one to sleep with my hair up, but its still in a loose pony tail - nothing tight.

4. Shampoo. Condition. Shampoo.
When you wash your hair, it is important to shampoo your hair at least twice. The first shampoo gets rid of all the oils/dirt/etc that is on your hair and scalp, whereas the second shampoo actually washes your hair once this 'protective layer of grime' is gone ;)
Personally I use TRESemmè Keratin Smooth Shampoo along side TRESemmè Keratin Smooth Conditioner.
Most recently I have also been trying out Organic (OGX) Coconut Milk Nourishing Shampoo accompanied by Organic (OGX) Coconut Milk Nourishing Conditioner and it's been fantastic!

5. Never brush you hair wet...
Sadly I am a culprit of this, but it is so so important to always comb your hair with a wide-toothed comb when it's wet! The curlier/thicker your hair - the wider toothed comb you will need.
Hair is much much more prone to breakages when its wet. When your hair is wet its weakened and brushing is one of the harshest actions one can do to their hair.

Here's a little history of my hair bonanza over the past few years:

When the red faded and became orange...

Excuse the frowning stare as I try to read my phone through the glare - its the only photo I have the shows how orange it went! xx

...And progressed to a strawberry-blonde

I did put a blonde-ish dye through it to try to alleviate the intensity of the red, but that backfired on me and took me through a 50 Shades of Strawberry Blonde stage.

In an attempt to rid the red my hair became strawberry blonde, and finally I dyed it back to dark brown. I would have never intentionally dyed my hair this dark but I was quite happy with the result, which was a great colour for winter and lightened as the months got warmer.

Flashback: Italy

Sometimes we forgot how lucky we really are. Fair enough I'm not as blessed as some people but I'd be lying if I didn't say I've been given some amazing opportunities over the years. Not many people can say that they've travelled to some of the most amazing places with their best friends. In March 2015 I was lucky enough to escape to Europe with my best friend and it was the most amazing experience of my life. We were both their competing in a sport that I fall more in love with everyday and afterwards we got to travel, to what is now, my favourite place in the whole world .. at this moment.
I've been saying since I was little a girl I've wanted to go to Italy and it's finally happened and I wasn't disappointed. It truly is one of the most spectacular places I've ever visited. We only got to see Venice and Rome but I'd love to travel the whole country one day.  I could live in Rome forever. I've never fallen so in love with a city. The food, the people, the fashion, the atmosphere everything!

I've always loved Italian food and experiencing authentic Italian food was a dream come true. I dined on pizza, pasta and gelato until my stomach couldn't take it anymore!! My favourite restaurant was situated just outside the Piazza Navona in Rome called La Scaletta Degli Artisti. I ate the most perfect pizza you could imagine, washed down with (I don't remember which one) an amazing glass of wine!!

I also stumbled upon my favourite gelato place in Rome. I'll have to visit again just to indulge!!

I only got to spend a few shorts days in each place but the memories will last a lifetime!!! I truly had the most amazing time and I couldn't be more grateful. The different culture and just everything about this place is just to die for! I really do hope I get to visit again soon!!
