The Tuesday 10 | 10 Ways to Be More Confident

THE TUESDAY 10

10 Ways to Be More Confident

1. Hold your head up.
Not kidding instead of walking around looking at the ground a meter in front of you, look up. Look at people, at the strangers wandering by and the world passing you by. You might not real side a change but believe me your persona will change to be a more confident you!

2. Don't second guess yourself.
If you believe in something or you have made up your mind, don't let society change that. There's only ever going to be 1 you and if you let society mould you into a stereotype puzzle piece you've given up your opportunity to be something great. Something amazing.

3. Don't change who you are.
Along side not letting society alter your beliefs, don't let people change who you are. Don't stop liking "Stitches" by Sean Mendes because a friend once told you it's the worst song ever. Don't pretend to loooove that Matcha Green Latte (ew) because some girl on a blog post said it was 'ew'. Yes it's great to have commonalities with your friends, but I mean if neither of you like Matcha Green Lattes there wouldn't be anyone left to drink them if we all continued changing to copy our friends in fear of judgement.

4. Don't be afraid of being judged.
I for one fall and shatter quite badly when it comes to being 'judged'. I play sport and I'm constantly asked why I don't just "give it a go" and for once I actually thought about my answer and realized it was because I was afraid if I couldn't succeed I would be judged. But to be completely honest...
People care more about themselves than they do you. So if you muck up, they will be more concerned about if THEY can do it, not if you did/can.

5. Quit the negative talk.
The big bad world can be a scary and negative place as it is, so the added chitchat from your mind telling you you can't do it isn't really necessary. I truly believe that at least 90% of being able to do something is believing you can. I'm mean if you don't believe you can do something, you'll never even attempt it and overall that literally eliminates all possibilities of you ever trying something new. Tell your self you can and WILL do something, and you're 90% of the way there!

6. Surround yourself with confident people.
Hanging around people that bring you down or who are quieter than you can often make your situation worse. Not saying anything bad about quiet people - boy see me when I'm tired and I'm the quietest tiny person you'll meet. But what I mean is if you are wanting to be more confident in yourself, go find a really outgoing friend who tries new things without second guessing it. Go find a friend who is always first to volunteer for activities or opportunities and you'll find from hanging out with them you'll start to do the same.

7. Have good posture.
As well as walking around with your head up, have good posture. Stand tall. Stand proud! Just from changing the way you walk and hold yourself changes the way people see you and how you perceive yourself. Instead of wandering around hunched over and staring up at the world, put your goddamn shoulders back and walk with the world. Walk into it. Show them hair who you are.

8. Don't compare yourself to others.
I've know you've heard it all before that 'everyone's story is different ' but that's 100% true. You can't compare your life and what you are capable of with the person next to you as their journey has consisted of millions of events dofferent to yours that they have experienced differently to you that has shaped them to be who they are today. And sure some peoples lives seem pretty dandy, but we all take hardships differently and at different levels. Some people can deal with breakups marvelously and some of us not so much. That's just who we are.

9. Smile.
Just put on a gleamy white grin and you'll find your overall feeling of yourself will start to get a lot happier. People will see you as a friendly person and you'll seem more approachable. Obviously don't put on a mask if you've been upset by something, but instead of walking around looking bored beyond belief, just smile.

10. Once a day, step outside your comfort zone.
Just once a day do something a little different. One day it might be something little like smiling at a stranger, or something a little bigger like saying Hi to an old school friend you've seen in the cafe your in.

Love Gi & P xx
